WITH LOVE, TROMSØ

Tromsolove began as a passion project in 2015, a way to share the magic of Tromsø with the world. Over the years, it has grown into a trusted guide and vibrant online community, helping hundreds of thousands of travelers explore the Arctic capital like a local. We helped transform Tromsolove from a beloved social media presence into a fully-fledged brand, with design rooted in the rhythms, contrasts, and warmth of life in Northern Norway.

THE WHY

The founder of Tromsolove came to us with an ambition: to take what had become a well-known social media page and evolve it into a recognizable, trusted company. At the heart of this shift was a deep personal love for Tromsø, its people, culture, and nature, and a desire to represent it not just as a destination, but as an experience.

Tromsolove already had a large and loyal following, but its identity and communication needed to catch up with its ambition. The goal was to create a visual and verbal universe that captured both the emotional warmth of the brand and the striking contrasts of the Arctic, helping more people connect with Tromsø.

THE HOW

We started with the name. The three “o”s iN Tromsolove became the foundation of the visual identity, shaped as continuous, fluid forms, each drawn in a single uninterrupted loop. These loops were the result of a series of design experiments where traditional letter anatomy was turned inside out, creating soft, breathing shapes that never fully closed, but always flowed.

The design draws inspiration from the northern lights, constantly shifting, quiet but full of life. These forms also speak to the larger rhythms of Tromsø: the movement of the sea, the transition of seasons, and the play between light and darkness.

THE CHALLENGE

The biggest challenge was balancing simplicity with depth. Tromsolove already had emotional resonance with its audience, so the new design needed to feel familiar - not imposed, but discovered. It had to reflect a place that is both rugged and refined, cold and full of warmth. In the end, it was about designing with feeling: letting emotion guide form, and building a system that feels as alive and open as the city it represents.
